Job Description
Each therapist must hold a valid license from the State of New Mexico, follow all policies and procedures laid out in the TTC employee handbook and a caseload based on the following:
• Full-time= 30+ billable sessions per week
• Part-Time= 20 billable sessions per week.
Clinicians are subject to the general supervision, advice, and direction of TTC Clinical Director, Supervisory Team and Office Management.
Treatment and Documentation Requirements:
Provide clinical treatment to clients and their families through trauma informed clinical modalities such as: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Play therapy, Theraplay, Circle of Security Treatment Strategies, Nurturing Parenting Curriculum, Art Therapy, Sand Tray or Sand Play Therapy, Co-parenting, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and other TTC approved Modalities.
Begin a therapeutic relationship with the patient or caregivers in the intake process. TTC’s standard intake process will take 1-3 sessions. Therapists must ensure the intake is filled out entirely. Therapist must assign a working diagnosis after the intake. IF their therapist feels the original diagnosis needs to be updated, they may do so with justifications throughout client’s treatment.
Perform a thorough assessment of patient and/or family through the use of TESI (Trauma Experience Screening Inventory), LSC (Life Stressor Checklist), videotaped assessments (MIM or CROWELL), Post=Traumatic Checklist (PCL), The Children’s Impact of Events Scale 13 (CRIES-13) and Adult Attachment Inventory or other approved instruments.
The Therapist will create a full and complete treatment plan (please refer to Employee Handbook) with the patient and/or caregivers. This will be presented to the patient and/or caregivers after treatment plan session and will need to be signed off on and added into the clients file. The treatment plan will need to be re-evaluated and sign by client and/or caregiver’s every 90 days.
The therapist will create and maintain accurate and current documentation of each session through the TTC electronic medical records system. The session note will be completed within 24 hours of when the session was conducted. The clinical therapist will sign the note for the supervisor to review and approve. The supervisor will then sign the note if the note is accurate and complete.
Calendar and Scheduling:
Therapist must schedule a minimum of 5 additional client sessions to ensure they are able to maintain their contracted billable number of sessions. The clinical therapist is responsible for maintaining an accurate and full calendar with correct billing session codes for each session.
Calendars are to be updated reflecting appointments scheduled 6 weeks out.
The therapist must review and enforce the cancellation policy with their clients. After two appointments missed or canceled within 24-hour period, the family must be reminded of the TTC cancellation and referral policy. After three late cancellations/no-shows the family will be sent a referral letter to their home address to find services elsewhere. Clinical judgement may be utilized in certain cases where the family needs extra support to attend appointments.
Supervision Requirements:
The clinical therapist will meet with their supervisor based on their licensure (please refer to Employee Handbook) for individual supervision.
Each therapist is responsible to report the following to their supervisor:
Details of their cases
Ethical and legal dilemmas involving clients, colleagues or administration
Competency based professional growth goals
The status of their own mental and emotional health over time in working with this population so the supervisor may work with the therapist to inform the therapist of resources, develop a plan for recovery and prevent burn out.
Group supervision is required based on licensure level (please refer to Employee Handbook).
If the Therapist has additional supervision outside of TTC, the Therapist is required to sign a release of information for the assigned TTC supervisor to communicate with the outside supervisor on goals, growth and concerns.
General Requirements:
The Therapist will abide by NCC or NASW ethical mandates and codes.
The Therapist is a mandated reporter and will abide by the state mandates on reporting child abuse, neglect, or maltreatment.
The Therapist will abide by the TTC policy for suicide and homicide reporting and intervention.
The Therapist is required to attend staffing each week unless the Clinical Director has approved otherwise.
The Therapist is required to attend the occasional mandatory meeting and trainings outside of the staff meeting.
Each therapist is responsible for monitoring their own self-care, interactions with others and self-reflective capacity. This is a high priority as TTC and the TTC leadership will be actively working to support the growth and development of these qualities in the therapists.
Each Therapist is required to treat all members of the TTC staff, clients, administration, leadership and colleagues respectfully and kindly. If relationship ruptures occur, the Therapist is responsible for work towards repair with the other party. IF the Therapist is not able to do so, then the Therapist will bring the issue to their supervisor. The supervisor will meet with both individuals if necessary and consult with the Clinical Director if needed.
Therapists must check their TTC email, voicemail, and Qliqs at least once a day on workdays, as defined by the Therapist’s work schedule.
